Team Selection 31/8 and 1/9

This weekend sees all 3 teams in action : Saturday the 3rds play away at Walsden and Sunday the Ist team travel to Todmorden whilst the 2nd Team play Todmorden 2nd XI at home. All matches start at 12.30pm

Saturday 31/0819 3rd XI v Walsden Away 12:30 pm

The 3rds start the play off finals on Saturday with trip to Walsden in the first match of their round robin – Todmorden being the other team in the finals. Walsden won the first game against Todmorden by 6 runs. A Rammy win would mean a decider for the overall title next week at home against Todmorden. If Walsden win then they will retain the title. Keni and his team will welcome as much support on the day as possible. Best of luck to the 3rds.

Walsden’s ground is on Scott Street – the post code is OL14 7SX and it’s about a 35-minute drive from Ramsbottom.

Sunday 01/09/19 1st XI v Todmorden Away 12:30 pm

The 1st team travel to Todmorden on Sunday in the penultimate league match of the season. Todmorden are just one place behind us in the league in 5th with 11 wins this season. We won the reverse fixture in June by 2 wickets. Todmorden batted first and were bowled out for 119 with Jonathan Fielding and Matthew Burdaky both taking 3 wickets. In a close finish we reached the target in the 36th over with George Linde making 43 and Simon Hanson 23. Todmorden’s pro is Sri Lankan Alankara Asanka. He bats right handed and bowls right arm off breaks. Our sub pro on Sunday is a very familiar figure, Daryn Smit.

Todmorden’s ground, Centre Vale is just through the centre of Todmorden. The post code is OL14 7BS and it should take you about 35 minutes to drive there.

Sunday 01/09/19 2nd XI v Todmorden Home 12:30 pm

The 2nd team also face Todmorden on Sunday.  After last weekend the league is now out of reach but a win on Sunday should secure 3rd place as a minimum. A top three finish and the cup win will represent a good season for Dale’s team. We won the match up at Todmorden earlier in the season. Todmorden batted first and made 163 for 9 in their 45 overs. Owen Collinge and Daniel Pyke both took 3 wickets. We reached the target mainly thanks to an explosive 74 from just 35 balls by Benjamin Parkinson. He was supported by Nicholas Round with 35 and Michael Howarth there at the end with 25 not out.
