Rammy Exit Cup

Ramsbottom bowed out of the Worsley Cup with a poor performance .The term ‘putting a value on your wicket' was never better illustrated than by Todmorden's professional who batted throughout their innings to finish unbeaten on 105.

This was by no means exciting to watch and indeed brought moans from the home supporters who insinuated he was playing for himself. His innings allowed his colleagues freedom to play with freedom and the talented Bilal Abbass and former Lancashire and England star Chris Schofield did this against our bowling which again lacked penetration.

Having said that a final total of 250 on what was undoubtedly the best track we have played on all season was not unsurmountable. What it needed was one of our early order batsmen to play an anchor role. Unfortunately that did not happen as we lost wickets to what can only be described as 20/20 shots.

Only Rehan Udwadia, batting with a broken finger showed the type of application needed to challenge such a total and our innings ended 95 runs short with lots of overs remaining. The last two performances from the Rams against teams below them in the league have been very poor.

We need to get our act together pretty quickly and get some results or we could find ourselves in a perilous position. Make no mistake this is a tough league and there are no easy games. I know we have the ability in the team to hold our own against anybody but that ability needs to come back pretty quickly.
